Pictures of Mommy's Princess Week Two

I figured it was time for a Mommy picture of Kate! This is her in her Mommy's princess sleeper. Pink of course...
Yesterday Kate was two weeks old and we are posting our pictures from her second week below. The last two nights have been somewhat successful with Kate sleeping pretty much from 10-8, yesterday waking up twice to be fed and changed. She takes some work to get back to bed but our hard work is paying off as Mommy and Daddy look much less tired! She was up for about two hours this morning looking around and focusing, which was a big morning for our little one, and she is now fast asleep in her swing. She loves music and may be the only person in the world that likes to hear me sing. Brian is so good with her and she is so good with him. It melts my heart when she stares up at him. Daddy is certainly becoming the expert and speedy diaper changer. I am becoming an expert at doing things with one hand, and I've found out that the sound of my blow dryer and running water puts Kate to sleep! A trick I may use in the wee hours of the night if necessary. These have been two very special weeks and we can't wait for what the ones ahead will bring with our little princess.

Kate Update

Here is a picture of our beautiful Miss Kate. The shirt says it all! Daddy, Mommy, and Kate are doing well together. She had a pediatrician appointment yesterday and now weighs 8lbs 7oz a good weight gain and the pediatrician says her color looks great. She has been a good eater and is really such a good girl during the day. She loves her swing and bouncy seat, and yesterday Kate found her hand for the very first time. She stared at it for a few moments in wonder. She also started focusing on a wall stencil in the doctor's office and her swing mobile. Our Daddy's little girl is still a night time partier though. Kate is eyes wide awake from the hours of midnight until 3am, but we are working on it and actually trying to embrace the moments as she is growing so fast already. Some of her newborn clothes are already a little snug. Good thing we have plenty for her to grow into! Unfortunately, we had to say good bye to Grandma Cindy today. My Mom was such help and so much fun to have around, but we know she'll be back soon. I don't think she can stay away that long from her little Miss Kate. Plus we have Gammy Linda's visit to look forward to. We are certainly a blessed little family.

More on our Little Miss Kate

Kate has been doing really well since we have disconnected ourselves of the billy blanket! We are kind of settling into a schedule and she is eating every three to four hours, even giving Brian and I a chance to go to lunch today while my Mom watched her. She is still a little bit of a party girl at night but we are working on that and trying to keep her as awake as possible during the day. Above is my picture of the day.

Lots of Kate Pictures!

CLICK HERE FOR ALL OF OUR KATE PICTURES!
Yesterday we took Kate to be tested for jaundice and the bloodwork came back great thanks be to God. As of two o'clock today we no longer need her billy blanket, so things are getting more normal or as normal as can be with a one week old in the house. After her 1:30 feeding today, I was able to hold her like a football in my left arm and upload pictures to our flickr account with my free hand. We have quite a few of them from her first week. I hope you enjoy! By the way Kate gave us her first smiles today. They are just a result of gas, but that goofy grin is still so cute.

Kate Videos

Here is some video of Kate in the hospital, her first day home, taking a bath, and being our little glow worm. She is growing so fast already, holding her head up, and even rolling onto her side. I know my camera work could have been better, but editing will come as I have more time which may take awhile!

Kate One Week Today!

Kate is sleeping pretty well this morning a week after her birth, so I thought I'd take the opportunity to post some more pictures. Actually her best sleeping time is from 7am - about 3pm and she likes to party all night just like when she was in the womb! A much more fun post than the last.

Kate Update

Today Kate is one week old! She has been an awesome little girl so far. We are truly blessed. We had our first pediatrician's appointment Monday and the pediatrician noticed Kate's coloring becoming a little yellow and she has a little jaundice. Not a huge deal and something a lot of newborns get and luckily easy to treat. She has what is called a billy blanket that we wrap her in and plug into the wall. It is a ultra violet light that helps her break down the toxins in her system quicker than her body was previously doing. It is a little cumbersome not being able to take her 4 feet from the outlet 24 hours a day, and it makes a little harder to get into a nice rythym, but we are working through it. She is so good even with the annoying blanket! Thank God my Mom is here to help us too! It has been a little bit like playing catch up the past few days as we added so many extra unexpected steps. We made huge progress last night, though, and finally feel like we have our feet under us. The good news is Kate is being monitored and getting much better. Your prayers would be helpful though too!

Baby Birthday Pool

So the day is fast approaching for our little girl's arrival. My official due date from both monthly calculations and ultrasounds is January 28th. Yesterday was my 37 week appointment, and I was dilated a half centimeter and more than 50% effaced. All is continuing to go well and I'm feeling good. We want to know when you all think the baby will arrive. Leave your comment with your pick to this post. (You can comment anonymously without signing up for a blogger ID, just be sure to leave your name in the comment so we know who to give the credit to.) The winner will be called by Brian from the hospital after her birth third on our list, right after her grandparents. Be sure to check the post just below this for a little video of our baby girl while she is still in utero.

Moving Baby

Our little girl has been quite the active little baby in the womb. We tried tonight to catch a little of her movements. We succeeded pretty well. She does move more than this at times, but we captured some movements for a good memory. Any distortion of the belly especially around the belly button and left side is movement. There are some kicks or punches on the left of the belly in the video, but mostly she does what I call the baby wave, rolling and distorting the belly. Though you can hear me breathing very little of the movement is actually me. Sorry for the heavy breathing on my part-- it's from laying on my back with the extra thrity pound baby weight, trying to talk, and holding the camera so close to my face, but it's the best view of the baby moves.

Brian's 28th Birthday

Happy Birthday to my wonderful husband today! Brian turned 28 today January 6th and we had a fun time celebrating. We went to dinner yesterday at Longhorn and he opened presents from me. Today he has gotten a bunch of phone calls with well wishes that have each made him smile and feel special. Thanks everyone for making him feel loved. He certainly deserves it! We went to Buffalo Wild Wings after church today to watch the Giants play. We spent the afternoon watching more football and I made him Lasagna and a cookie cake to celebrate tonight. I think he enjoyed his special day.

New Year's

Well, this morning we woke up to a beautiful landscape of winter snow. We got about 8" and are officially snowed in. What a great restful way to start the New Year! We had a low key New Year's Eve yesterday and went to dinner together at Brio. A nine month pregnant New Year's Eve is a little different than some of our past days. We did make it up for midnight and toasted what we think will be a landmark year with some sparkling cranberry juice. This morning Brian made breakfast sandwiches for us both, and is like a kid on Christmas with all the college bowl games to watch. He has nothing to do but sit and watch football with his surround sound, except of course attending to a manic request from his 9-months pregnant wife to go outside and shake the heavy snow off the front aboriviteums so they don't break. You know you have a fabulous husband when he doesn't complain at such an admittedly silly request.

We have already shopped and purchased our food for the first day of 2008, Mrs. Hunter's Taco Dip and a fruit platter for appetizers, Fettucini Alfredo and Steak Diane for dinner, and Carvel Flying Saucers for dessert. All in all a perfectly relaxing way to usher in what might not be that relaxing of a 2008 for the Davies household.
