Kate's first Easter proved to be a busy one. Kate and I met Brian at church for a catered breakfast and worshipped at the 8:00 service. It was one of five that Brian participated in that morning and was just wonderful. They keep the church dark in the beginning of each service mimicking the empty tomb, then the pastors do a reading, the choir does Handel's Messiah, and the lights gradually go on in the sanctuary. It was a great service, and Kate looked adorable in the dress my Mom bought her. Her bonnet made the outfit. As I told my Mom at this age it is all about the hat. After Brian was done with church we took off for Chicago, Kate's first road trip. We weren't quite sure how the trip was going to go with a two month old, but it actually went very smoothly. Kate was an angel and barely fussed the entire trip. It is 5 hour and 15 minutes of driving time. We stopped once for an additional 50 minutes to feed Kate and let her stretch a bit. The Chicago trip was awesome as Kate was able to meet so many important people to us. She also "helped" my Mom one morning with ebay. With practically everyone we know living out of town, Kate will have to learn to be the traveler which she is becoming already. On our trip home Kate was equally good, though there was a major accident shutting down the expressway for 45 minutes. With the delay on the road and the traffic build up, we decided to feed Kate an additional time and decided to go to dinner ourselves to wait out the Metro Detroit traffic. All in all it was a really great time and we are already looking forward to our next trips.

Kate Elizabeth Baptised in Christ
What a weekend! We had Kate's Baptism Saturday, and it was an awesome event. We had lots of family come in for a visit which was wonderful. It meant so much to us that everyone made such an effort to be here for the occasion. Brian did the actual Baptism which was really moving. He even choked up a bit. Kate's God parents are my sister, Katie, and Brian's cousin, Eric. They were also our maid of honor and best man. We really couldn't have picked better sponsors. We had a brunch party here at the house, colored Easter eggs, and visited. It was great to have both families together and the weekend was truly memorable.

Family Photo Shoot
The other day the lighting was just right so we decided to take some different pictures of us and Kate. We made a great collage with them for our kitchen. Brian envisioned all the pictures and we are so happy with how they came out. Kate was even cooperating and giggling at her Daddy of course. Our baby girl is currently having a blast with all of her visitors and we are really looking forward to the baptism tomorrow.

Little Miss Sunshine
It is starting to become a long winter here in the Midwest. It has been quite cold, and we are supposed to get another big snow storm today. One could easily develop a case of the winter blues. I came up with a great remedy to ward them off; dressing Kate in her summer swim outfit! It is very much the solution! Things don't seem so drab when you can look forward to spending time at Gammy and Pop Pop's Pool and Grandpa and Nana's Lake.

Kate Video Week 6 and Confessions

I have to share how neurotic I can be. Before we found out Kate was a sweet little girl, I had picked out two sets of bedding from Target. I didn't want any particular nursery theme like bears, trucks, winnie the pooh etc. I wanted something simple and cute of course. I fell in love with the carter's sweet baby girl and sweet baby boy bedding. They are respectively just the right shades of pink and blue, with just a touch of the perfect celery green, and a little white for good measure. They were perfect for my nursery plans, and I love Kate's bedding. I mentioned to Carrie Winterhoff after they found out they were having a boy about the boy's bedding. She looked at it, liked it, found out they were discontinuing it, and 8 hours after her ultrasound ran to Target and purchased the bedding (among other coordinating things.) Her husband thought this might have been a little quick. Well, I have Carrie beat. I am not pregnant, not planning on it for a little while, don't know for certain if I will be pregnant with a boy in the future, but am now also the proud owner of the Carter's Sweet Baby Boy Bedding, the mobile, and a coordinating blanket courtesy of my Mom and ebay. There it is, off my chest and, it feels much better.
Below is some video of Kate in her sixth week of life! We really feel like she is becoming less and less of a newborn. Hope you enjoy the video.
