Happy Birthday Luke Kendall Roy!

Happy Birthday to our Little Slugger Luke!

We had an awesome party Memorial Day Weekend for our Little Man.

Brian had the whole baseball themed party planned the weekend after finding out Luke was a boy.  It was a great idea, and a great party with a lot of great people.

His smash cake and cupcakes made by Nana!

The official ticket/invitation to the big day.

Luke's Godmother Ginger secured for us beer vendor crates, among many other items to make the day even more authentic.  We had two great vendors and some good beer calls.

Thanks to Nana and Pa who assisted with the menu and the Butter Ball Grill for concessions.

We also had a little entertainment for the night with a DJ that specializes in kids parties, and put out a bounce house that we share with Aunt Katie and Uncle Ben.  We danced and bounced the night away.

I guess it was a pretty great party considering the police were called.  I don't know many 1 year-olds that can brag about that, and I don't know what we will do to top this special day next year.  Seriously it was like 7:45 and it was a kids party.  The police officer was very nice and understanding and told us he had to stop by, it is Grayslake after all.

The cake was a Hit!

The Juice Box was a Homerun!

One great aspect of our party was that we got to announce our big surprise, the official name change of Luke---and Brian's Dad was there to see it.

Our little man is now Luke Kendall Roy Davies!

Brian's Dad, our Pop-Pop, has been sick for about a year now.  There have been many ups and downs but one of the blessings is that we have had a chance to reflect on how much Roy means to all of us and to share it with him.  One day we were driving and Brian was sharing, "I have no regrets with my Dad.  We have no unfinished business.  We have a great relationship, and we know how much we mean to each other.  I just regret not making him my co-best man, and not naming my son after him."  Roy had always been on the top of our list of names, but when we landed on Luke, the Roy seemed too short, and we chose Luke Kendall.  Well, we decided this oversight had a simple fix. We have legally changed Luke's name to include Roy.  By including Roy we hope to always remind Luke of the Great Man that his Grandfather is.  We can only hope that Roy's legacy and character can live on in our little guy, and we hope the name serves as a reminder to Luke and Brian of the great love a father and son can share.

Thanks to everyone who made our party so special.  It was only so awesome because of the awesome people we have in our lives.  Luke Kendall Roy is a blessed little guy!

First of all: Happy belated birthday to Luke Kendall ROY Davies! You sure had a great party which one can hardly top. And you, Luke, will one day be so proud to have this special third forename, as you grandfather is a great man.

Dear Beth and Brian,

This was just an awesome idea and it really sounds smooth as if it was meant to be that Luke has got three first names. What an honor also to your dad - and that your dad and mom were there to witness the announcement. (Not to mention to party hard at their grandson's birthday party.)

Thinking of you!
Love,
Claudia

Aww! He is so adorable and I really like his name a lot. Even my husband’s name is Roy. I really liked the arrangement that has been done here. The color combination looks amazing and I think I will also find an outdoor event space Chicago like this for my little one’s birthday.
