Michigan Summer

One thing we love about Michigan is the beautiful summers. We've had some good times of late and want to share some pictures.

7 Years and a New Addition

Yesterday was Brian and my 7 year anniversary! One of our first anniversaries with some gusto. The number is the first high enough that its starting to signify a good amount of history behind us. We've lived in three M states, held five jobs, traveled a fair amount, had one adorable child, and now have one more on the way! There is certainly some gusto there. I am now 13 weeks along with Baby Davies #2, and we are ecstatic. We certainly haven't kept things under wraps this time, so I'm sure most people reading this already know, but consider the announcement now official. Our due date is January 16th, Kate's 2nd birthday. I have been feeling great as of late. I was much sicker this time around, but not as tired. Just this week I've started to feel the baby move, and quite a bit. I know you're not supposed to feel movement until at least week 16, but even Brian has felt the movements of this little one. We just hope this doesn't mean #2 will be even more active than #1, though I really don't think that's possible. If it is God help us. Our ultrasound is the middle of next month, but I think we might go the surprise route as to the sex of our second bundle of joy. Though, we do have a whole month to rethink that decision. Other than that we are basking in the greatness of Michigan summer, enjoying the blessing of the last seven years, and looking forward to the blessings in the one ahead.

Kiddieland

While on our trip to Chicago my Mom, sister, and I took Kate to Kiddieland. Kiddieland is an adorable amusement park geared toward families and little kids. Kate had an absolute blast. She loved and went on every ride, and showed us quite an adventurous spirit. It was so much fun to take my little girl to a place I remember so fondly as a child. Kiddieland has been around since the 50s and everyone that has grown up in Chicago has great memories of going there. Unfortunately, this is Kiddieland's last season of operation. It will soon be torn down to be a Costco. Isn't that terrible! A Coscto! It is a depressing note of the era we live in when a practical landmark is replaced by the sterility of a big box retailer. But at least I got to take one of my children there before it was gone! Being that it is Kiddieland's last season we truly savored the trip and took LOTS of pictures and video above and below. You can really see Kate's enjoyment in a few of the shots, enjoy.

A Lakehouse Visit

In the middle of June while Brian, his Dad, and a team of people from St. Peter went to Houston on a mission trip, Kate and I headed to Chicago. We had a packed trip with lots of wedding preparations, but we did manage to get some good lake time in. Kate loved the lake this year. She played in the sand, went down her slide, floated in her rafts, ran in and out of the water, and enjoyed a daily paddle boat ride. She loved all the wild life especially the two new white ducks that have made Valley Lake their home. Nana also taught Kate how to drink from a straw, introduced her to juice boxes, and shower her the joys of popsicles. It was a great trip and we had a ton of fun as you can see from the pictures.
