Kate's 1st Cubs Game

We have had tons going on at the Davies household lately, and I am way behind on blogging. I'm sure in the next few weeks I'll catch up with the big and small news. On the bigger news, we took Kate to her first Cubs game on Thursday. Members of our church and fellow Cubs fans, the Stathakis family, invited us to Comerica Park. Now granted Kate's first Cubs game was not at Wrigley, but it was certainly something special. Our seats were in the first row directly behind the Cubs dugout. It was an awesome view of the game with an added bonus of being able to see the players coming and going between innings. The biggest bonus about being behind the Cubs dugout, cheering for the away team, and having an adorable 1 year old decked out in Cubs gear, was we got some neat souvenirs. First Derek Lee tossed Kate a game ball between innings. Very cool and exciting. Neither Brian nor I after going to many, many games in many, many stadiums have ever gotten a ball. Then Kate seemed to make a special bond with the Cub's Japanese center fielder, Fukudome, between innings. (We actually caught a half smile he gave Kate on video below.) After the game Fukudome pointed at Kate and tossed her his batting gloves. We were floored. I mean how could you not love our adorable one year old waving and yelling hi between innings, but still it was a pretty big deal to be thrown a players batting gloves. It was very cool and the icing on the cake of an awesome day. I'm sure we nor Kate will ever have such special treatment again, but it was a pretty memorable first baseball game, at least for Brian and I.

Wow! I think Kate is your lucky charm! What an exciting and fun time you all had- I want to know how it was keeping a mobile toddler "in her seat" at the stadium! Great post, guys! We miss you! Love, Carrie & boys
