We had quite a snowfall last night into this morning. We received a little over 20 inches, which were accompanied by some pretty fierce wind that categorized the storm as an official blizzard. It was fun to see, especially because we were all snuggled into our toasty home last night, and are all 4 enjoying an official snow day at home today. With the wind there were quite a few drifts and below is what were welcomed with when we tried to open our front door this morning.
Daddy's snow blower was a little outmatched!
Thankfully he had a few adorable helpers!
(Notice the snowbank as tall as the trunk of our tree.)
We went outside for a few minutes to "enjoy" the day but quickly retreated inside due to the wind.
I'm assuming this Ground Hog Day Blizzard means 6 more weeks of winter.
No barbecues for a while.
The snow banks are almost as tall as Kate and certainly as tall as Meg!
This was quite the snowfall for Chicago. Contrary to popular belief we really don't get that much snow. This was the third largest snowfall of all time for the Chicago area. The news was and is still going crazy over such a story. Everyone is trying to name the storm. Some of the most creative are Snowmeggedon, Snowtorious B-I-G, The Chizzard (standing for Chicago Blizzard), and my personal favorite the return of Sammy Snowsa.
All in all we are enjoying all things winter and especially partaking in Kate and Megan's favorite winter activity, sledding at Nana and Pa's. They have a hill down to the lake that is the perfect kid's sledding spot. The pictures below are from a much warmer day of sledding and fun.
Like most things in life we are embracing winter, and are certainly enjoying hunkering down, catching up on a few things, constructing a Father Daughter Snowmen, making a great big pot of Chicken Noodle Soup, and watching our new favorite show Mad Men.

Wonderful pics! Looks like the Davies family made the most of a bad storm. We loved seeing Kate and Meg and Nonnie and Pa's sledding-great time for them! Spring is less than 50 days away! YEAH! Love, Gammie and Pop Pop
I LOVE Mad Men....especially the dresses the women wear. Can't wait for season four to get out on DVD already!
These pictures were amazing! All of that snow!!! I have been meaning to comment on your adorable Princess Party post, too. So cute- we love your blog, and Luke adores "Kate/Megan!", although he doesn't know what a princess is! (His sister will teach him someday soon, I'm sure!). Love to you all.
P.S. Glad to hear you love Mad Men, too- we are hooked! Good luck surviving Sammy Snowsa!
These pictures bring back memories of Delmar....good for you taking advantage of a questionable blessing! Love, The VA Winterhoffs
