Kate's first Easter proved to be a busy one. Kate and I met Brian at church for a catered breakfast and worshipped at the 8:00 service. It was one of five that Brian participated in that morning and was just wonderful. They keep the church dark in the beginning of each service mimicking the empty tomb, then the pastors do a reading, the choir does Handel's Messiah, and the lights gradually go on in the sanctuary. It was a great service, and Kate looked adorable in the dress my Mom bought her. Her bonnet made the outfit. As I told my Mom at this age it is all about the hat. After Brian was done with church we took off for Chicago, Kate's first road trip. We weren't quite sure how the trip was going to go with a two month old, but it actually went very smoothly. Kate was an angel and barely fussed the entire trip. It is 5 hour and 15 minutes of driving time. We stopped once for an additional 50 minutes to feed Kate and let her stretch a bit. The Chicago trip was awesome as Kate was able to meet so many important people to us. She also "helped" my Mom one morning with ebay. With practically everyone we know living out of town, Kate will have to learn to be the traveler which she is becoming already. On our trip home Kate was equally good, though there was a major accident shutting down the expressway for 45 minutes. With the delay on the road and the traffic build up, we decided to feed Kate an additional time and decided to go to dinner ourselves to wait out the Metro Detroit traffic. All in all it was a really great time and we are already looking forward to our next trips.
